Four Factors of Choosing a College

Four Factors of Choosing a College

The college is an educational institution that provides specialized

professional and skill training. A good college can provide a better

learning environment and can change someone’s life. Therefore we

should choose colleges carefully. There are four factors of choosing a

college: the ranking of the college, obtainable subjects, internalization,

and the future after graduating.

The first factor is the ranking of the college. The higher ranking of

the college we get into, the more resources we might have. For

example, we might have better facilities, or we might meet a higher

quality of professors and classmates. The ranking of the college

decides the environment we will have in the future. The next factor is the

range of the subjects we can study. If there is a variety of

subjects that students can study, they will have more options to choose

from the subjects they might be interested in. At the same time, they

might reach for different knowledge, and they could learn variety.

Moreover, internalization is another factor of choosing a college.

Nowadays, our world is becoming more and more globalized, so colleges

should be more and more open. For example, many top colleges have a

lot of sisters schools over the world, and a lot of resources from other

countries that they can reach. The last factor for choosing a college is the

future after graduation. Colleges are places where people prepare and

get ready for their future work. Therefore, we should consider whether

colleges provide many internship opportunities or have enough training

programs before students graduate.

In conclusion, these are four basic factors when we are choosing a

college: the ranking of the college, the variety of the subjects,

internalization, and the future after graduation. A good learning

environment can lead us to a successful life, therefore we should

carefully choose our colleges.

A Different Me

A Different Me

Today, I am totally different from five years ago. During this five years,

I have changed a lot in personalities.

Five years ago, I was a high school student and was preparing for

university entrance exam. I was a very shy person. For me, it is

impossible to make a presentation in front of many people. At that time, I

only focused on studying but nothing else. I didn’t have much social

life, and I even didn’t know how to communicate with other people. I

almost looked like a nerd. However, I totally changed when I went to

the university. I made many friends there, and my personalities also

changed a lot. I have become a very outgoing person since I was college

student. I also studied a lots in university, but I was not only studying but

also joining a variety of activities. For example, I was a public relation in

English Club, a leader in our class for two years, and a member of

International Business Students Association. During the time of the

university, I almost changed to another person.

I am very happy with my differences of the five years ago. Now, I am

very comfortable with standing on the stages without shyness, and I have

more and more confidences.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie

Today I am going to talk about Angelina Jolie, one of my favorite actors.

Angelina Jolie is anoutstanding actress and also a goodwill humanitarian.

Before Angelina Jolie went into the Hollywood, she was a fashion model

and also appeared in a lot of music videos. At the age of sixteen, Angelina

Jolie learned to become a actress from her father, and she found out her

acting abilities. Angelina Jolie started her filming career in 1993, but she

didn’t be noticed at that time. After she played a role in George Wallace

and performed as Cornelia Wallace in  1997, she won a Golden Globe

Award and was dominated for an Emmy Award. In 1998, she continued to

played a role in HBO’s Gia, a world of sex, drugs and emotional drama.

Next year, she was dominated for an Emmy Award again, and won her

first Screen Actors Guild Award. Besides, she has a series of popular films,

such as Lara Croft, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, changeling and so on. Her

achievement let her win several awards. However, when she became

popular and become a super star, she started to involve in humanitarian

work and do charities. When she was filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia in

2001, she became aware of  worldwide humanitarian crises. In the

coming years, she donated a lots money, participated in a variety of

charities, and now she has donated three different-countries children.

Although, she is a super star and very famous, she doesn’t forget to

help people. Angelina Jolie is not only a good actress, but also a goodwill

humanitarian.

A Memorable Experience in My Life

A Memorable Experience in My Life

There was a unforgettable experience when I was made fun of by my

classmates. One day, we had an oil painting class, and our teacher

taught us the concept of oil painting. During the break, two of my guy

classmates felt bored. So, they planned to play a prank on one of

our girl classmates, but not on me. They put blue paint on her chair, and

they  waited for her to sit on that chair, and they wanted to see her

embarrassed face. However, I didn’t know their plan and sat on that

chair. I saw some of my classmates were trying to hold their laughter, but

I didn’t know what was happened. After oil painting class, we had math

and PE classes. Meanwhile, I heard a lot of people laughing at me, but I

still didn’t find out there was paint in my white pants, until I went home.

My mom noticed the paint on my pants, and blamed me. She asked why I

wasn’t careful. I felt curious about when and where I had paint on my

pants. None of my classmates told me what had happened, until the day

we graduated from elementary school. Now, I think they just felt sorry for

me because they played a prank on the wrong person.

Q/A

B) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? What has been you favorite place to visit?

If I can visit anywhere in the world, I would go to Europe. It is very

expensive to take a trip in Europe , so I never visit Europe before. I saw a lot of  beautiful

pictures of Europe in magazines or internet, such as French manor, Spanish bull-

fight, Italia men and England Big Ben. There are full of exotic atmosphere

in Europe. I hope  I can visit Europe as soon as possible.

So far, South Africa is my favorite place to visit. I have visited there

five or six times in my life. The people there were very friendly and

passionate. Every time I went to South Africa, and there were always a

lot of surprises let me explore. I am so excited about tradition Africans food, Safari,

wide animals, traditional custom and music. They didn’t have crowded people, a lot of noise

and messy cities. Every time I came here, and I felt released and peace. I cannot wait to visit

 South African again.

A Person Who Has Made a Difference

A Person Who Has Made a Difference

When I was studying at the university, there was an amazing person,

Wendy-Zhuang, who changed my life a lot. We studied in the same

major, we had the same English name and we also were college

roommates. At first sight, she had short hair, and wore T-shirt, jeans

and sneakers. I thought there is a tomboy who is going to live with

me. She was the first homosexual in my life. I was a little bit shocked and

wondered how to speak to her during these four-year life of dormitory.

Which way should I talk to her, as a girl or a boy? I was judging her by

her semblance. But I found out I was totally wrong by the first

impression.

She loved reading and helping people. She admired knowledge and

she was reading all the time. I always called her Dr. Zhuang because she

learned wisdom. If  I had any kind of problem, no matter if it was a

studying question, a mental problem, or illness, she always could solve

these problems. On the other hand, she liked to help people out. She was

not only helping her friends, but also other people who needed help. She

had been a volunteer since she was in high school. Unlike her

appearance, she was an intelligent, wise, kindhearted and open-

minded girl. Although people are quick to give lesbian judgments, she

didn’t blame them, and sometimes thought of their ways.  I learned a lot

from her, such as reading broad, judging a person without appearance,

being open-minded and so on. We have been good friends for five years,

and she is my best friend, who always give herself to other people than is

helped by others.

ALP Composition-Introducing Myself

  Introducing Myself

Hi everyone! Today, I am going to introduce myself. My name is Hsiang-

Ting, or you can just call me Wendy. I was born in Hsin-Chu, the windy

city of Taiwan. I had a wonderful childhood with my family in Hsin-Chu.

There are four people in my family, my parents, my younger brother and

me. But we have been separated and now live in different countries. My

dad has to work in China, and my brother studies in South Africa. I miss

them so much, and hope we can get together as soon as possible. I spent

most of my student life in my home town, until I went to university in

Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. Although my major was business and

finance, I was interested in advertising and traveling. However, no matter

what subjects I study, I think English is not only helpful but also very

important. I have studied English for more than five years. However I still

cannot use it fluency. Therefore I joined the American Language Program

to improve my English ability. At the end of this program, I hope there is

a lot of progress in my English. I can do  some art, but I don’t have other

special talents. My hobbies are listening to music, visiting art galleries,

and traveling.
